HIV treatments continue to evolve

If you are living with hard-to-treat HIV, you know how frustrating it can feel when your HIV treatments stop working. There’s another option available that may be able to help treat your HIV. If your provider decides SUNLENCA is right for you, they may also adjust the combination of other HIV medicines you take.

A first-of-its-kind, twice-a-year injectable treatment for HIV

SUNLENCA is an injectable treatment for HIV-1 with a twice-a-year dosing schedule. SUNLENCA can help treat your HIV-1 when used in combination with the other HIV-1 medicines that have been prescribed to you by your doctor.

Adding SUNLENCA may be right for you if:

you have received HIV-1 medicines in the past, and
you have HIV-1 virus that is resistant to many HIV-1 medicines, and
your current HIV-1 medicines are failing. Your HIV-1 medicines may be failing because the HIV-1 medicines are not working or no longer work, you are not able to tolerate the side effects, or there are safety reasons why you cannot take them.

Between your 6-month injections, SUNLENCA keeps working in your body

SUNLENCA is a subcutaneous injection, meaning it’s injected just under the skin and does not go deeply into the muscle. If you are prescribed SUNLENCA, the injections will always be given to you by a healthcare provider at your scheduled appointments.

SUNLENCA is long-acting. The medicine will continue to work in your body during the 6 months between your maintenance appointments.* Make sure to attend your appointments as scheduled.

*Maintenance appointments can be scheduled up to 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the 6-month mark. If you miss a SUNLENCA appointment, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible. They’ll determine if and how you should continue with SUNLENCA, including whether temporarily switching to an oral dosage until you can resume your maintenance injections may be an option for you.
